    Let’s talk about personal branding, content creation, and everything in between! Our presenter for this program is Audrey Boyle, a comedian who is guaranteed to keep things fun with a discussion of social selling.

    All of the employees at a company have a personal brand whether we realize it or not. Since people make decisions based on their emotions, it’s a “sleeping giant” to shape your companies brand by encouraging employees to be brand ambassadors. But how do you go about identifying, creating and harnessing an employee advocacy program?

    Audrey Boyle believes the quickest way to common ground for people is laughter. She is grateful that people laugh when she delivers comedy through speaking engagements, blogs, sketch videos, and interviews. After stepping down as one of the youngest Vice Presidents for Home Depot at age 29, she became a college professor teaching personal branding and social media marketing. At Forbes Business School, her classes get as much hands-on experience and insider information as she can provide them.

    About our Presenters

    Maria Odiamar Racho is an Organizational Effectiveness Senior Manager at Allstate Corporation, where she specializes in culture, complex systems/networks, leader effectiveness, and change.  Maria completed an Executive Master of Science degree in Organization Development at Pepperdine University.

    She is also a co-founder of two Employee Resource Groups, the Allstate Asian American Network (3AN), and Intrapreneurs@Allstate (I@A).  Her passion centers around enabling systems to unleash human potential so that they can achieve their purpose and mission.  The intrapreneur, just like the entrepreneur of a small business, is the driving force behind their idea and vision.  When an intrapreneur’s energy is focused on the needs of the business, the collaborative impact and potential can be unstoppable.

    Jack Redding is the Vice President of Intrapreneurs@Allstate (I@A).  He integrates his love of technology innovation with a pragmatic problem-solving attitude to help enable the “dreamers who do” in bringing their dreams to life.  In his “day job,” he is a Technical Lead at Allstate Corporation, where he drives personal computer and collaboration technology strategy and execution, cultivating an expertise in virtual facilitation of large group events.

    He is passionate about giving back through volunteer roles as a leader in his church as well as several local non-profits.  He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.


    Gifford Pinchot III, the person who coined the term intrapreneur will be joining us for our presentation on Thursday.

    Experiential Virtual Learning That Sticks!

    Join the Organization Development Network of Chicago for our annual meeting plus a new tool for your virtual toolbelt!

    It’s July – time for the ODN/C annual meeting! Plus, we have Diane Kubal joining us to present, “Experiential Virtual Learning that Sticks: Keeping Learners Engaged & Motivated in Uncertain Times.”


    We’ll spend the first portion of our meeting reviewing our accomplishments over the past year, along with sharing the exciting plans we have for the future. We’ll also be asking for your real-time feedback (confidentially) in a few polls to help us check the pulse of our network to make sure we’re heading in the right direction.


    With in-person training at a halt, you are likely wondering how you can convert your classroom training into virtual learning experiences. Organizations must now level-up and offer new and creative ways to engage, train and develop their workforce virtually; a workforce of modern learners that demand personalized learning that is interesting, accessible, and available anywhere, on any device.

    Isn’t this just converting existing training into webinars?

    No! Experiential virtual learning is different because it doesn’t just deliver knowledge through lecture, videos and written content.  Learners are required to take action by experimenting and applying what they have learned. It’s more effective because it helps establish lasting behavior change. When used in combination with a variety of methods such as gamification and micro-learning, learners stay engaged and motivated. And experiential virtual learning can be applied to all kinds of content and works especially well for “soft skills” training.

    Advertiser’s Secrets to Compelling Change Videos…

    With short attention spans and the need to “break through the clutter,” how can your organizational videos leave your audience remembering your message? Try looking to a field that does this well: advertising. If commercials can get people to purchase items they don’t need, how can you use these marketing secrets to influence employees (and do this without them feeling manipulated)?

    In this interactive, game-based session, you’ll learn what makes some ads so compelling they persuade you to buy. You’ll explore the strategic framework to use when creating a video strategy as well as the essential design considerations. Learn to:

    • Explain the video “hooks” to make the content in your learning video memorable.
    • Apply the four characteristics of effectively using visuals to design or evaluate videos.
    • Distinguish when learning videos should and shouldn’t be used.

    The interactive session helps OD professionals re-think how to create effective change videos that actually evoke the intended emotion and action by using specific advertiser’s techniques.

    Expanding Your Power (This Experiment is Real)…

    Is a big window now open for you—to do what you could not have done three months ago? The painful disruption of COVID and Anti-Racism may be a brief, once-in-a-lifetime “unfreezing,” a chance to deeply change our organizations. Yet, if we don’t focus our larger power quickly, our desperate leaders may quickly lock into decades of new dysfunction.

    Even as power is abused, feared, misunderstood and ignored, we will experiment together in this Chicago ODN Zoom: how can we build larger power into our work, to create a forward leap—while the window is open?

    We will explore our own differing perceptions of power and engage in an experimental Power Lab. And then, some of us will help each other. The “door” is open to you to join our 3-week individual power experiments.

    This OD Network of Chicago session builds upon Bruce’s recent national conference experiment with the Organization Design Forum. There, in June, the group and the follow-up were global; maybe here, we in this Chicago Zoom will “go global,” too!

    About Our Presenter :  Bruce Mabee


    Bruce Mabee has consulted over 135 client organizations in projects of strategy, teamwork and change. Half of his work has been in consulting relationships lasting 5-10 years and longer; designing “power” into them made the larger outcomes stick. The clients have included Walgreens, Motorola and Conoco-Phillips, creative non-profits such as Working Bikes, and governmental units of the US and Scotland.

    Bruce has taught topics of leadership, strategy and power in nine graduate schools, including Benedictine, Lake Forest and the University of Chicago. He holds an MS in OD, and a BFA in Industrial Design. He co-created the Impact Awards of the Chicago OD Network, where he is a founder and former president.

    Expanding Your Power is a key element in Bruce’s upcoming book, The Impact Kit, which integrates power into agile innovation and design thinking.

    Organize Your Life and Thoughts…

    Change has been one constant throughout history.  This is especially true today given the uncertainty thrust upon everyone as a result of COVID-19.  Time and time again human ingenuity and resiliency have prevailed. They will prevail again.  
    During this session, Yuzu and Dolores will present perspectives and methodologies to assist in your change journey.  You will hear about and have an opportunity to apply the Prosci process in a pseudo corporate scenario.

    Additionally, you will learn about navigating your own change to achieve desired future outcomes, improve a process, or create what you need in your life.   The goal of experiencing these change processes is to achieve transformation as leaders and individuals.  When we effectively change one aspect of ourselves, the possibility of effecting change for others exists. Change presents an opportunity to raise awareness and see new possibilities to transform yourself and your life.

    Yuzu Byrne
    Yuzu Sasaki Byrne is a board-certified professional organizer (CPO®) and certified productivity coach through the Institute of   for Applied Coaching. She is the owner of NEATOPIA Professional Organizing Services.  Yuzu integrates coaching into her client sessions and works collaboratively to create unique organizing and productivity solutions. She is also one of the two licensed and certified Sanity School® Trainers in Illinois and a certified facilitator for the Buried in Treasure Workshop.
    Before starting her own company, Yuzu worked for Morningstar, a Chicago-based financial information provider, for over 20 years.  At Morningstar, she held various Human Resources roles, including Sr. HR Business Partner with Morningstar’s Investment Management division reporting directly to the Business Unit President.  She was responsible for developing HR strategies to support the division’s business objectives, providing advice and coaching to senior management, facilitating employee integration through acquisitions and mergers, managing the division’s 360 feedback process, compensation budget, and co-developing a company-wide manager training program.  She holds an MS in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from Loyola University Chicago and continues learning about coaching and executive function challenges that impact organizing and productivity issues.

    Dolores Perez Priegnitz

    As a bi-lingual (Spanish) transformation and training professional with global experience, Dolores Perez Priegnitz leads change and project efforts for organizations in the high tech, consumer products industry (CPI) and energy sectors. Her experience includes mergers and acquisitions and trailblazing a remote worker program for every level in an organization. This 4A’s program of Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime on Any Device launched in the Americas, APAC and EMEA before it became the “the way we work” today as a result of the 2020 pandemic.  Having recently been certified as a Life Coach, she plans to soon launch this business. These work and life experiences increase her understanding across diverse cultures, geographies and the nuances in learning styles when working with global audiences.   Her goal to achieve WIN-WIN-WIN solutions complements her mantra: Work Hard, Stay Humble, Live Happy.
